Testimonials Bridger Wilderness Outfitters and the Historic DC Bar
Guest Ranch The following are a few of the unsolicited comments
we have recently received. They sure made us feel good. I hope they help
make your decision to pick us a little easier.
We want to tell you that we very much enjoyed our trip into the Wind River Range last week. The quality of your staff was over the top, and we so enjoyed our time with your staff. They were the best! We felt comfortable at all times with them and your horses while on the trail, which, as you know, can seem quite treacherous! The food was great and time with all of them was lots of fun. They took great care of us! Doug and Pam Metcalf dmetcalf@carolna.rr.com
I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the DC Bar Guest Ranch. It is hard to believe that it has been over a month since our visit but we still find ourselves talking about our time there almost everyday. The DC Bar is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. We have been many different places on vacation but we have never experienced anything close to our time at the DC Bar. We really felt like we were part of the family from the minute we got there and almost had tears in our eyes when we had to leave. We both learned many things from how to shoot a gun to fly fishing to canoeing...everyone went out of their way continually to make us feel welcome - but the highlight of the week was Dean - he was very patient with us and had lots of stories for such a young guy. We look forward to returning again and maybe doing a pack trip in the Winds!!! 2007 George and Diane Hack ghack102562@comcast.net
Brian, Lilly and I loved our stay with you. Brian and I especially appreciated everybody's kindness and generosity of time and spirit with Lilly. She remembers her time spent with your employees so fondly. We hope to return to the DC Bar Ranch this summer for at least 10 dayts or so. I'll be in touch. 2007 - Brian and Lilly
Our time spent with you and the Crew was wonderful. We will never forget how special your part of the world is! 2007 - Leroy and Gladys Van Dyke (famous country western singer)
We stayed with you two years ago and were worried about coming back because we didn't think there was any way another trip could possibly be as good as our first one. We wanted to cherish those memories. After our trip this year I want you to know that this one was even better... On our way home, while waiting for a plane in Jackson, my daughter Kelley was doing some PR for your ranch. A family that had stayed at another ranch in Jackson was asking about our stay & by the end of the conversation they were wanting info on how to contact the DC Bar Ranch. Our stories out did theirs at every turn. I actually felt sorry for the people. Thanks again for a wonderful time. We enjoyed every minute & we WILL be back... 2007 - Peggy Noell
These have all been updated - received the fall of 2006. It may be fun to look at the employees in our group picture under "Hosts and Staff" while you hear how great a job they did. Enjoy!
"We very much appreciated the gear drop that you did for us into xyzxyzxyz Lake last August. The wranglers were top notch and everything went very smoothly. The fishing exceeded our expectations. Each of us caught and released several 16 to18 inch fish every day. We are thinking very seriously of another trip next summer..." Keith Stamm "Matt, my oldest boy, is off to play baseball in Arizona next year. We often talk about the fun we had with Bridger Wilderness Outfitters 2 years back. ...I will be giving your folks a shout to book a trip with my 7 year old boy, Jack. He would love the adventure... Maybe you can pull another family or two together to make the trip with us - Most likely this next summer..." Scott Griffith "Hi Tim. Aren't you just on the cutting edge of the cyber revolution in Wyoming! ...We think of our trip out west often and hope to visit you again before too long...we are glad you are there!" Chris Von Gal and family "The Ride the Winds trip was such an experience, a follow up ride needed some space so there wouldn't be any comparison. I did a raft trip in 05' and a base camp horse ride in Montana in 06', to see a different part of the Divide (Wyoming is Better!). I have talked you guys up so much as possible because of the great trip. I will be back if I can drag someone else along." Dan Daley "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your intern (Outfitter and Guide School). Working on a guest ranch was different from much of the work I have ever done and the experience was fulfilling... I have grown up working with horses and animals, but coming to the ranch made me realize that there was much I didn't know. Working with you and others around the young mules has taught me a lot... I will never ever forget those nights in the Wind River Mountain Range sitting around the fire: there is no better feeling. ..." Nick Hammond "Tim, Here are some antlers for the kids that come to visit your ranch in the summer. I had a great hunt and learned a lot about elk hunting. Hope to hunt elk with you again." Tony Satalic "Well a week later and I have finally recouperated from the trip (elk hunt). I am still waking up at 4:00 am though. Just wanted to let you know what a great time I had... I really enjoyed being with you and learning about elk. ...(your staff) did a great job guiding... it was the shooter that was off. I am determined to try it again!" "ps I have enclosed a picture of a Muley buck we saw back at your ranch on Saturday. He was safe (season closed)... He is not as big as those we saw at the Lake (during the hunt) but he still gets the adrenaline up!" Richard Thornberry "I just wanted to let you know that I had a fantastic, unforgettable experience on your Ride the Winds Trip - August 5-11. The scenery was incredible and the organization and preparation that went into the trip was truly proffessional- nothing was overlooked. The BWO people were the very best part of all. I really enjoyed watching your guides/outfitters/employees at work each day. Dean seemed like a seasoned veteran who was born on a horse: he walked, talked, moved, gestured and acted like he was born and raised as a cowboy. And it was a memorable moment one evening around the campfire when he started telling tales about the exciting things that have happened during his years with your organization. I apperciated his one-on-one attention, particulary with my total inexperience as a rider. He helped me mount and dismount each time and didn't outwardly smirk or shake his head in disgust as I awkwardly tried to throw my leg over my horse when mounting up and just as awkwardly tried to drag my old, tired, stiff leg back over the horse's rear end when getting off. ... Tye was taciturn but with a ready smile and a willingness to answer my question, and he gave me helpful advice about riding... He was competent, professional and very hard working, and it was worth the price of admission to watch him lead his string of mules through the mountains... Alex was a pleasure to talk to with her easy-going, laid-back manner, and she made fabulous meals for us. I have special dietary needs and was afraid I wouldn't eat well, but I needn't have worried. She accomodated my diet with tasty salads and vegetables, and she made dishes that I had never had before but which are now added to my own collection of recipes. And her deserts were just out of this world. Finally, Art was a real Gem. He was the best part of the trip, at least for me. He was so genuine and freindly and interesting, and he always took time to talk with me even when he was shoeing a horse or packing a mule. He is a tremendous asset to Bridger Wilderness Outfitters, and I only wish I could come back (in a few weeks) and do the 10-day Ride the Winds trip he is leading the first part of September. I think my next outing with you will be a custom walking trip... Thank you for giving me my monies worth and a lifetime of great memories." Clint Smith "I wanted to thank you for having us out here. Working here has been one of the best things I've done with myself and my dad. (Luke went through guide school several years ago and always wanted to bring his father out here. He did so this summer) My dad was real happy to experience this. The rest of my family will be out here next summer... Thanks Again" Luke Reynolds "My son and I greatly enjoyed the Ride the Winds Adventure. Your staff was simply great and we were a good match with the other clients. ... Maybe one more year!... come up with a plan for an unusual fishing trip and let me know! ... Great Experience. The New Lodge is Great." Mel Pearson "I just wanted to thank you and your staff for a wonderful week. Bryce and I enjoyed everything- the food (thanks again Bob), the overnight ride with Chase and Ryan, and the fishing along the xyzxyzxyz River and riding with Matt. You have a well schooled crew and they made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived until the time we left. I hope our paths cross again soon." Ralph and Bryce Holewinski "I wanted to email you one last time to tell you about our trip. We went on a three day pack trip on July 27. As you can see by the pictures, everyone in my group had an incredible time! Our guides, Dean and Kyle were excellent. We were impressed about how knowledgeable they were. Our cook Alex was amazing! I was not expecting to eat as well as we did. The Wind River Mountains are absolutely beautiful. I also learned a lot about riding while on the trip and it has helped me back home with my horses. I just wish we had more trails here! My only regret was not signing up for a longer trip, maybe next year! Thanks again for all your help before our trip, and for all the great memories." Sarah David I want to thank you for hosting one of the best trips I have ever enjoyed. You have a great staff and I would especially like you to share my appreciation for the support and help provided by Mike, Art, Alex and Nick- they made the trip a joy. ... For the future, I intend to bring the light of my life (my wife Penny) on the next trip. Again, thank you and your folks. Please let them know what a great time they provided for me. I will be sharing all my experiences with my friends and hope they get the bug to give you a call and make their dreams happen!" Marshall Lounsberry, USAF Col (Ret) "Tim, ...it was truly a good trip. I think the men-guests on the trail were a bit hurting, especially by the end... but this old lady did just fine. Great scenery, great adventure, great times. I would like to comment on the staff, however. Of course Dean was wonderful through crises and challenges...However, in additon to that, Art and Tye are to be commended. Both are incredibly hard-working and motivated. Art is so, so knowledgeable about horses and so tuned into their needs. Tye works so hard he is going to die if you don't feed him more... and both are attuned to the needs of the clients and the demands of a trip like this. You couldn't ask for better employees."
