Hunting Overview

Bridger Wilderness Outfitters has been guiding hunters in this area since 1983. Our experienced, professional guides apply their skill and knowledge in making sure you have one of the best hunts of your life. All of our camps are top quality and professionally maintained.

We guide for; Elk, Deer, Moose, Bear, Antelope, and Sheep. We guide both Rifle and Archery Hunters.

We hunt a resident elk herd, which does not migrate, but stays here year-round. In winter the elk move into the several feeding grounds in our vicinity which are located below the major drainage's. As the heavy snow subsides the elk will move back into the areas from which they came. This keeps them in our area during the hunting season.

Bridger Wilderness Outfitters currently operates three camps; one camp is operated from our guest ranch, one is in a major drainage of the Bridger Wilderness Area of the Wind River mountain range and the other is in an excellent location in the Gros Ventre mountain range. We are grandfathered into being allowed to guide in two different wilderness areas. All out of state hunters are required to have a licensed guide to hunt in a wilderness area, so due to this law we experience very little outside interference, and seldom encounter other hunters in our hunting areas.

All of our camps are accessible by horseback, the longest ride being 3 hours and the shortest ride 1 ½ hours. Our cook tent is equipped with propane appliances, and our meals have always been met with enthusiasm. All hunter’s tents have wood burning stoves. Each camp has a shower tent

Hunting License
We will help you acquire the appropriate license. Wyoming has an annual drawing for all big game licenses.
Elk hunting applications are due in Cheyenne by January 31st.
Moose and Sheep applications are due February 28th.
Deer and Antelope applications need to be in Cheyenne on or before March 15th.

Important Notice: In 2006 Wyoming initiated a Preference Point System for Elk, Deer and Antelope. Call me to discuss this and to develop your future hunt strategy.

References We will provide you with a reference list covering several years. The references are asked to tell you like it is. We want you to come to camp having a realistic idea of what to expect.
